Your Digital Footprint – or thinking before you publish

The read/write web (or blogs, wikis and other web tools) make creating and publishing very easy.  Sometimes so easy that we forget our target audience and get a little “click happy”.   It’s a good reminder to remember that when we publish on the web that we are in essence creating a ‘digital footprint’.  Questions such as, “Who is the person we want to be? How do we learn? What are the best tools to do the job?  Am I adding to or exploring knowledge/learning or?…” offer a chance to ponder and reflect with our students.  (A good transfer activity especially for those students already in IM world or Facebook..)

Have a look at this video from Common Craft on Protecting your Online Reputation. It may provide you an opportunity to use this as a discussion point.
